“Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.”
(Isaiah 41:10, ESV)

There is the word “fear” again!  Do you wonder why it shows up so many times in the Bible?  Could it be that God understands how fear can immobilize us, destroying the abundant life He has for us?

Friend, fear is a joy-robber.

The word ‘dismayed’ means to be crushed or in despair. When God says He will ‘strengthen’ you, He is saying He will fortify you and help you to be courageous!  ‘Uphold’ means to sustain or keep fast.

Do you struggle with fear?  Do you live in despair because of fear?  Does it feel like you will never conquer and be able to move on with your life?  This verse was directed to God’s people, the Israelites, but is applicable to us today as well.  In the New Testament, the apostle John tells us, “There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear” (1 John 4:18).

Our God is the very great and mighty God—the supreme God, the One who loves perfectly.  He has chosen us. We can believe He will keep His promises to us!

“…I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.”

Friend, don’t just believe in God, but BELIEVE Him- take Him at His Word!  He has promised to strengthen you, to help you, and to uphold you with His righteous right hand, so fear not.
