“Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins.” (1 Peter 4:8, ESV)
The New King James version uses the word “fervent”… ”
And above all things have fervent love for one another, for “love will cover a multitude of sins.” (1 Peter 4:8, NKJV)
My prayer:
Lord, help us to fervently love one another. May our love reflect your holiness in a way that honors and glorifies You. Lord, when we feel empty or unable to love other people, fill us with Your holy love. When sin in our own heart hinders us from loving others, please help us to identify that sin and rip it out by the root with repentance so that Your good fruit of love can grow in the garden of our hearts instead of weeds like pride, bitterness, and unforgiveness. Fill us with love and, by Your merciful kindness, give us the courage to pour it out to the world around us. Amen.
