The exciting news the angel was sharing is still good news for people today! The phrase good news comes from the Greek word euaggelizo, according to Strong’s concordance. This word specifically describes the wonderful news of salvation through Christ, otherwise known as the Gospel; it is the best news ever! It tells us that Jesus was born, lived a perfect life and died on the cross to pay for the sins we commit, so we might have a right relationship with God. Jesus didn’t stay dead but was raised to life by God, His Father. He is in heaven now making intercession for us. What better news could we hear? Will we keep this great news to ourselves or should we help others know about it, too? A well-known Christmas song

Those words stopped me in my tracks… stewards of God’s varied grace… Wow! As stewards of God’s grace, we can show hospitality and serve others. The goal? God’s glory, not our own.  Why not take cookies to a new neighbor, invite someone you don’t know well over for coffee or her whole family for a simple dinner of soup and bread? Ask the Lord for strength and wisdom, and serve according to His leading.
